A celebration of all things culinary gets underway in Cochrane this weekend.

The 3rd Annual Cochrane Food Fest is back and will once again feature sample sized portions of quality and delicious food.

“We are thrilled to welcome everyone back for a picnic in the park! Try something new & unique, and enjoy some of your favourite local cuisine,” said Event Coordinator, Kailey Mitchell, of Quirk Social.

Mitchell said this one-day event will showcase a wide-array of food choices.

“We’ve got a mixture of food vendors, like food trucks and then we’ve got food vendors like some of the restaurants that are participating. This year we’ve also got a marketplace, so there’s a couple of vendors that are selling food-related items. Cultivate Cochrane will be there, and the Helping Hands Society of Cochrane will be there to talk about food insecurity.”

She said it’s not just for foodies, there will be lots of activities for kids, including horse rides.

“Face painting, and some different craft stations. There are games this year, we’ve brought some old school picnic games like egg on a spoon and the three-legged race, and we’ve got some prizes for that.”

There will be plenty of live entertainment as well with Alex Hughes, Ashley Ghostkeeper, Austin O’Keefe, Anna Lewis, and Cochrane’s own The Found House Band.

Patrons will pay for their food samples directly at each vendor, which is different from the previous ticketing system used in previous years.

Cochrane Food Fest goes on Sunday, August 13 from noon to 7 p.m. at Mitford Park.

Event goers are being encouraged to bike, walk, or get dropped off as there is very limited parking on site.
