This year’s Food Fest is showcasing plenty of local foods in sample-size portions, while providing activities for the whole family.

Event coordinator Kailey Mitchell is thrilled to welcome everyone back for another picnic in the park.
“Try something new and unique, and enjoy some of your favourite local cuisine,” Mitchell said.
There are 13 vendors on board this year, including Aama Nepalese Cuisine, Big Dog Smokehouse and BBQ, El Nopal Tacos, Food Coma, Hot Off the Press, Miss Poutine, Mumbai Bites, Mehtab East Indian Cuisine, Pablo Cheese Tarts, Pink Door Pizza, The Canadaian Brewhouse, V Burger, and Wannawafel.
Unlike previous renditions, this year they have moved away from the ticket system, so hungry attendees will pay vendors directly.
The beer garden will boast drinks from Half Hitch Brewing, Rocky View Brewing, and Fallentimber Meadery.
They have also added a small marketplace for vendors and local food groups to utilize, allowing people to interact beyond just selling and buying food according to Mitchell. This will be home to a booth for the Helping Hands Society Cochrane, to whom a portion of the proceeds from this year’s event will be donated.
“Bring your family, friends, the neighbours and stay for the day,” Mitchell continued, “Cochrane Food Fest is a fun family event you definitely won’t want to miss.”
Entertainment this year includes live music at the Found Books and Tim Hortons Stage, along with the return of the MacKay’s Ice Cream Kids Zone.
The Kids Zone will have horse rides, face painting, outdoor games, prizes, and more.
“We’ll be there with our icicle tricycle, giving away samples of a yet to be determined special flavour,” said Meghan Tayfel, who owns MacKay’s with her husband Mark.
Mark said, “Summertime, we’ve got to take advantage of all these outdoor festivals,” he continued, “It gives us a chance to meet with everybody again and put faces to names.”
