The fourth annual Cochrane Food Fest is this Sunday (August 11) and the event is moving into a new home, the Cochrane Ag Society.

“We moved from Midford Park up to the Cochrane Ag Society because we have more food vendors than ever participating, which is super exciting,” says Organizer Kailey Mitchell with Quirk Social.

“Now people can actually come up and park there for the day. We also have the barn area, which provides shade. We’re really excited, we have lots of different kinds of food. I think people expect that it’s all food trucks, but we also have Cochrane restaurants participating.”

Attendees will also have lots of options to pick from from each food vendor.

“The thing that we always love about this event is that all of the portions are sample size and they’re between $5 and $10. So you can try multiple items for a low amount.”

Live musical performances will be on stage while you snack throughout the day including Airdrie’s Hayley Isabel, Anna Lewis and more.

Face painting, sparkle tattoos and more will also be hosted in the Kids Zone, sponsored by The Messy Moose.

“We also have a little marketplace of food-related items,” says Mitchell. “People could purchase stuff to go home with. It’s fun to come and get a snack and then watch some performances and then go and get some more food.”

“It’s a great family event, there’s just so many different things! We were going through the menus and we’re like, we’re gonna eat this, and we’re gonna eat this.”

Gates open at noon on Sunday for Cochrane Food Fest and go until 7 p.m. There is a small entrance fee of $2/person or $5/family charged at the gate.

Overall, he would like to give a special thanks to the organizers of this year’s event for having CSAR as a beneficiary and for bringing the event to the community.

Kailey Mitchell, CEO of Quirk Social, said the CSAR was chosen as beneficiaries for the inaugural event because of all the great work they do for the community.

“It’s great to have them as a support for the community in the event if unfortunate events happen, and they also use the Ag Society as their base,” she said.

Looking at the future, Mitchell said there are plans to change a few minor details about the event, but she anticipates that the event will be coming back to Cochrane.

“We are excited for next year, the opportunity for growth is huge, and […] it’s the first year, so it was a lot of fun,” Mitchell said. “We would like to sell more tickets and have more bodies there, and we look forward to expanding on that in the coming years, and being able to give back more to the community
