Taste of Cochrane grew from one day to a full weekend in 2026, giving guests more time to explore 19 local food and beverage businesses on a self-guided tasting tour of Cochrane, Alberta.
The Cochrane Eagle sat down with organizer Kailey Mitchell of Quirk Social, which is in its fourth year running the event. Mitchell said the change came from guest and business feedback: Saturdays were very busy for some businesses, and many people couldn’t get to every stop in a single day.
Weekend or single-day tickets
With the new format, guests could buy a ticket for the whole weekend or for just one day, depending on their availability. After buying a ticket, attendees visited participating businesses at their own pace and collected codes along the way for a chance to win gift cards worth $25 to $100.
New tastes every year
Mitchell told the Eagle that the mix of businesses changes each year, so returning guests “always get to try something new.” This year’s newcomers included the Sweet Spot and AJ’s Irie Jerk Chicken Place.
Many businesses sign up year after year for the chance to welcome new customers through their doors, and Mitchell called the event a great way for newcomers to Cochrane to discover local spots they haven’t tried yet.
