Grab your lederhosen and gear up for a great time this weekend as Oktoberfest comes to the Cochrane Lions Event Centre.
“It’s going to be the same feeling you would get by going to Oktoberfest in Germany,” explains Quirk Social’s Kailey Mitchell.
“There will be long tables, polka-style music, a sense of community and just enjoying a fun night with other people in the community. We have bratwurst, soft pretzels, and of course, steins of beer.”
This is the fifth year for Oktoberfest in Cochrane. Traditionally hosted by Half Hitch Brewing Company, the event now has Quirk Social, and The Butchery Block on board as the event’s popularity continues to grow in town.
“We thought, well, it’s time to go to a bigger space. We’ve extended it over to the Lions’ Event Centre this year with a capacity of 250 and we are expecting to be sold out by Saturday”
“We’ve seen a lot of ticket purchases yesterday and today. We do still hope to have some available at the door but we definitely encourage people to grab their tickets if they’re planning to come because we would hate to have to turn them away.”
Premium Akkord will be playing traditional Oktoberfest music and modern hits with the Yodel Ladies promising to make an appearance during the festivities.
Cochranites are encouraged to come dressed in traditional German clothing with contests and games hosted throughout the night.
Doors for Cochrane’s Oktoberfest open at 7 p.m. Saturday evening and tickets are available here.
