Because of the construction in downtown Cochrane there will be a different route for the annual Labour Day Parade.
Members from Cochrane and Area Events Society (CAES) are asking event goers to gather along Railway St., Grande Ave., Bow St. Common, and Centre Ave to enjoy the parade.
Kailey Mitchell with CAES said the route may be shorter this year, but the parade itself will be just as enjoyable.
“It’s a bit shorter than normal, but we still obviously want to bring the parade to Cochrane. So we just have to adapt to what’s going on like everyone else.”
“We have between 50 and 60 floats registered, definitely not a smaller amount of floats, you’ll still see everyone in there. We definitely don’t anticipate it being any smaller than it has been in the last few years.”
There will be pre-parade entertainment to enjoy from 9-10 a.m.
The Cochrane Activettes will host their annual pancake breakfast before the parade at the old Ford dealership along Railway St. from 8:30 – 10 a.m.
The parade is Monday, September 4th. Roads close at 8 a.m., pre-parade entertainment starts at 9 a.m., and the parade begins at 10 a.m.
Mitchell said “We’re going to keep the roads closed for the whole duration of the parade this year, instead of doing a sequential teardown of the barricades as we’ve done in the past. This is to ensure the safety of everyone, as it’s a lot of people to put into that small of a space.”
