The fourth annual Cochrane Food Fest returns on Sunday, August 11, bringing the town’s local culinary scene into the spotlight with sample-sized portions for taste testing all different kinds of cuisine.
“There’s a lot of different options. And you can try a lot of things for a reasonable price because everybody’s pricing is between 5.00 and $10.00 at the most,” said event coordinator Kailey Mitchell.
This year, the food festival will take place in a brand-new location, promising more food vendors than ever before, as well as ample parking and more shade. The event will take place at the Cochrane AG Grounds, from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Attendees can look forward to an expanded lineup of food vendors, food trucks, and artisan food producers. From a variety of tacos, to home baked goodies, to bubble tea and authentic Indian delights, there will be something for everybody.
“Everybody does their smaller portions so that people can go and try multiple things,” said Mitchell, “People kinda make a day of it, and they’ll come and go to one place and get a Taco, and then they’ll go to another place and get a bubble tea.”
Menu items are sample sized portions priced between $5.00 – $10.00 to allow attendees the opportunity to try multiple things over the course of the day.
Food fest will also include musical performances as entertainment throughout the day, including Airdrie’s own Hayley Isabel, plus welcoming back Anna Lewis and more artists to be announced.
There will also be a Kids Zone, sponsored by The Messy Moose, with activities for the whole family such as face painting, sparkle tattoos and The Sleeping Giants drama games.
Mitchell said, “Bring your family, friends and neighbors – make a day of it. Cochrane Food Fest is a fun family event you definitely won’t want to miss.”
Due to a drop in sponsorship funds to support operational costs for the event, Food Fest is charging an entrance fee of $2.00 per person, or $5.00 per family at the gate.
