The debut of the Bow Valley Boot Stomp not only brought a long list of talented country musicians to Cochrane, it helped support the important work of Cochrane Search and Rescue (SAR).
Today, Kailey Mitchell, of Quirk Social, presented $1,850 to Cochrane SAR, representing a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales from the two-day festival.
“We know how important Search and Rescue is and they use the Ag Society as their home base, so we thought it was a perfect fit, and they had some great guys to help us out,” says Mitchell. “It was exciting. We look forward to being able to donate more in the future.”
Lee Hodgers, SAR fundraising lead, says contributions like this are huge for the volunteer organization that has helped so many over the years.
“We’re a grassroots community organization that relies solely on fundraising, so being able to partner-up is great. We want to be part of the community, so joining forces with Quirk Social and getting it done for Bow Valley Boot Stomp was important.”
SAR volunteers helped with the setup, parking and directing people throughout the event.
Mitchell says it’s the first time Quirk Social has worked with SAR, and it was a pleasure.
“It takes a lot of manpower to run an event, so it’s great to be able to have the people to support that as well.”
Country fans from as far away as England and Switzerland enjoyed the Bow Valley Boot Stomp, held on July 19-20 at the Cochrane and District Ag Grounds.
